CUSTOM KITCHEN PROJECT BUDGET $50,000 TO $80,000
Set in the Historic Rideau River area of Ottawa, this beautiful custom-built home had very lofty goals for itself.
An impressive Tuscan style inspired kitchen, a Second Kitchen, bathroom vanities, walk in closets, storage closet and a Mud Room. This was the project for these discerning homeowners and Heartwood Kitchen & Bath was pleased to bring their vision to fruition.
The Trend of Two Kitchens!
Adding a second kitchen is a growing trend in prime property that is catching on in custom houses. Whether it is a kosher kitchen, purposed for generational living or just to have a beautiful kitchen to display and for use while entertaining, this kitchen trend has different functionality.
Main kitchen
The Main kitchen is brought to life with Tuscan inspired cabinetry. Solid maple wood doors with a raised panel, were chosen to give this the look of expensive furniture styled cabinets. In a classic two-toned look, the main part of the kitchen is lacquered and glazed in a soft cream while the island contrasts in a rich warm cognac colour and then grounded with a beautiful vivid granite.
In this striking home, cabinets were brought to the ceiling and capped with a prominent crown moulding. The bulk head was accented with decorative wood mouldings. Corbels were used to add drama and detail to the cabinets while statement sized corbels were used to anchor the island. As an extra highlighted feature, frosted glass doors are accented throughout the upper cabinets while the complimenting backsplash adds unique characteristics to the kitchen.

Second Kitchen
Often referred to as the Baker’s-Kitchen or the Caterer’s-Kitchen, the smaller second kitchen is tucked away behind the Main Kitchen. It is a simpler version which complements the Main Kitchen harmoniously. The Second Kitchen is the perfect size for everyday prep and lends itself to an easy clean up. With lots of natural sunlight coming through the window, we chose a PVC door in Wild Cherry colour to tie in with the colour of the Island. Granite countertops are carried through to keep the integrity of the opulent Main Kitchen. And of course, the Second Kitchen is fitted with all the appliances needed for everyday cooking.
Vanities
The vanities, whether in the master ensuite with double sinks, the guest bathroom, the main bathroom or the powder room were all designed to be complimenting versions of themselves. Beautiful cabinetry made of stained solid maple wood doors and stone tops were detailed with corbels and wood accents all made to resemble high end furniture.
Mud Room and Laundry Room
A sure way to enhance your home is with a beautiful Mudroom and an open and airy Laundry room. A Mudroom is a neat tidy way to organize everyone’s things, this extra entry way is the perfect place to hang your everyday outerwear and store your sporting equipment, while keeping it away from the main entry way. A Laundry room is definitely and asset and an invaluable space in your home. For a high-end custom cabinet look these rooms we used MDF doors in a clean lacquered white.
Walk-in Closets
Of course, a custom-built house will include the luxury of walk in closets with custom built ins. Storage and organization is key to any modern home. These homeowners can store everything with ease.
